I've been following the path of Digital Minimalism for a few months now. And it has led me to adopting an extreme take on the UNIX philosophy to everything in my life. Taking a tool bag instead of a multi-tool approach to digital life. Giving the option to remove the tools not needed for a job behind. basically packing the bare essentials for that task. This led me to putting together single purpose devices like my PI-writer-400 for a focused writing, then a dumb phone for bare bones phone needs, also an old IPod mini for listening to Music, Audiobooks, and Podcasts while driving or tasks around the house.
I also have been experimenting with a analog note system called Antinet which is back to basics take on the original zettlkasten system created by Niklas Luhmann. I've been playing with this system to learn how it can be applied to a new better way of living, that combines aspects from the past and the present and what works best for a better, thoughtful, and happier life.
#koreader#raspberrypi#kindle#100DaysToOffload
So I use a kindle 4th gen (the touch version). A few days ago I started to flash the internal storage of the kindle with the raspberry pi imager, i thought it was the SD card i forgot to plug in. So i reset the device (thank god i have a backup of my .epub file). Then after restoring the device, text to speech did not work and the device is so old i could not register it to see if it would fix it. So I started to jailbreak it to put KOreader on it. It has been stuck on the boot screen for 2 days. Now it's dead I am charging it to try to revive it.
I need to eventually get out of my parents house and move on with my life. Also I have been thinking about monetizing my blog as a small revenue stream for a while.
What I am going to do?
I have some amazon affiliate links on one blog post and I have a buy me a coffee page. I might do more product reviews on crap that i use; but nothing I don't believe in as a product.
A friend needed help with exposing ports with docker containers, so I thought I would write about it.
Why do you need to exposing ports?
So docker container are contained to their own virtual network, furthermore exposing ports is like port forwarding on a router. This prevents port collision between docker services.
How do i do this?
To expose a port number, use the docker command with the option -p 8080:80. In this example the 8080 is the host facing port, while the 80 is the port number used by the app inside the docker container.
I was finishing up some college classes and forgot the challenge. Now I'm going to try to cram as much blog posts before the end of the year. I wanted to do the
https://100daystooffload.com challenge to populate my blog with content even if i didn't compleate the challenge.
Quick Edit
I just realized the challenge is to post within a year not by the end of the year, Oops. I still want to get as much posted by the end of the year though.
I bought three 256GB SD cards at Walmart for $8 on clearance. then I looked at recently modded iPod mini and realized I could buy 3 iPod Mini's with cosmetic issues, 3D print replacement shell's with my own flair, install the clearance SD cards, and bundle in a nice USB cable and a budget pair of IEM's, then sell them as a beginner HiFi audio art piece.
My HP Envy x360 is consistently crashing. probably because I was compiling a application from source while the laptop fans were smothered by my bed and slightly cooked the CPU. I have swapped the RAM and storage to see if that was the issue, it was not. So i am shelving my HP Envy laptop for my old HP Elitebook 8460p that was presumed to have dead graphics from cat hair, old age, and the crushing weight of a over weight cat sitting on top while in the possession of my mother. A while ago I turned on my old HP Elitebook 8460p and i was working again; I don’t know how?
What now?
I will be using it for the time being, untill I can save up enough money for a framework 13.
BTW, since the HP elitebook is thicker and heavier that my HP envy, I have nicknamed it my CHONKY-HP.
